We are a competitive hard ball league. We do have a range of skills of players. Most players have played at least high school baseball, we have many former college players, a few former pros.
We will try to accommodate a request of this type, but it is up to the coaches and how many players they need.
Our main field is at Rotary Park in American Fork, UT. We also have agreements with some local high schools to use their fields. Our league typically draws from Utah and Salt Lake Counties an plays in Utah County in American Fork and Lehi. We may soon expand to venues in South Salt Lake County.
NOTE: We are guests on all the fields. If they are abused in any way, we may lose that privilege. Leave the fields and grounds in better condition than we find them. Clean out dugouts and place all trash in receptacles.
Typically, the season begins the second week of May to the end of August. Through mid July all games are on Saturday. Starting around the second week of July we start playing some weeknight games as well.
Each season consists of about 14-15 games per team, with a postseason playoff immediately following.
Utah Adult Baseball is an 18+ league. You need to be 18 by Opening Day to be eligible to play.
Each player is responsible for his own equipment. Some coaches provide team equipment, such as helmets and bats.
Each team has between 12-15 players. No more than 15 player are allowed on the roster to protect playing time.
Team coaches are responsible for arranging player jerseys and payments for uniforms from players.
Players and coaches must wear a consistent colored shirt with their team, and it must have a number to identify the player. Players are required to wear baseball pants during games. Base coaches are encouraged to wear helmets.
We require -3 metal bats. For safety -4, -5, -6 or lighter are NOT allowed. We also allow wood/composite bats. All bats must be professionally manufactured
Utah Adult Baseball plays NFHS rules with some modifications, including use of the NCAA slide and balk rule. See League Rules for a complete list of modifications.
The vast majority of players and coaches prefer to play 9 inning games for more at bats per game. We play 9 innings.
Utah Adult Baseball provides two UHSAA Certified Umpires for each game. On occasion only one umpire is available due to the high demand and low supply of good umpires.
We require that all players, coaches and fans respect our umpires and the often difficult job umpires have. If a player or coach is ejected, they must sit out that game and one additional game. Further sanctions are imposed for multiple ejections. UAB provides a fun opportunity for competitive league play preventing the hostile environment created by game wreckers.
We maintain a pick up player list for coaches to use as substitute players. Send an email to uabnpo@gmail.com. Include your name, cell phone number, age and include a short baseball bio, we will add your information to the list. There is no cost to be on the pickup player list.
It varies year to year. We will add as many teams as possible. Our only limitation is the number of fields we have available. We have had up to 4 fields during the season. The average number of teams is 9-12.
AF Rotary baseball field is available as long as the field hasn't been lined and prepped for a game that day. Please leave all fields better than you found them.
Players pay, an average of $16 and change per game, which is much less than the price of dinner and a movie or a round of golf.
Fees are used to procure the best fields we can find and while keeping the price you pay as low as possible.
